Commenced in the real estate industry at the young age of 18 years as a receptionist for a real estate firm in 1979.  The firm had an in-house settlement agency ‘Affiliated Settlements’ and Marisa was introduced to conveyancing by 1980.

 

 

She obtained her Settlement Agents Real Estate License in 1982 and by 1986 achieved her license also as a Business Settlement Agent, allowing her to expand to business settlements.  Today there  are only a handful of settlement agents with a license for business settlements.  There has not been any further education/courses offered for this for a number of years. An area many conveyancers choose to steer clear of.

 

In 1989 she became a business owner and took over ‘Affiliated Settlements’ as sole Director/Manager.  She set up office in Canning Bridge, where she worked solo for a number of years with occasional part time staff to assist.

 

Due to a down turn in the real estate industry and business, she ceased ‘Affiliated Settlements’ in 1996 after being offered a prime position as Licensee/Manager of ‘St James Settlements’ located in Nedlands.  In 1998 Marisa was offered  a  second attempt as a business owner and took over ‘St James Settlements’, once again as sole Director/Manager.

 

Again Marisa was a solo business proprietor and employed her first full time employee in 1999, when she was due for her first child.  By the end of 2000 she had two children and ran her business from the office as well as from home, still with one full time employee.

 

Jill Nelson-Coulon became a Director and joint owner of ‘St James Settlements’ in 2003 when Marisa’s first child was about to commence full time school.

 

Marisa wanted to be a devoted mother to her children as well as a devoted conveyancer to her clients and referral base.  Without Jill coming on board this would not have been possible.

 

Jill & Marisa have been friends for over 20 years, having commenced their friendship back in the days of TAFE, when Jill and Marisa were both studying.

 

In 2005, St James Settlements became known as Saint James Conveyancing and remained in Nedlands until 2007.

 

Thereafter, office premises were purchased in Balcatta and the business moved north of the river, where it is run today.

 

Born 1961, Marisa has a 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter.  She currently lives in Hillarys and works 4 days a week, from  9am to 3pm (school hours) and 1 day from 9am to 5pm.  Having always been an efficient and particular person to get the job done right, Marisa has no qualms in a little after hours work to keep on top of things and ensure her clients are provided with the best possible service she can offer. 

Jillian has over 25 years experience in the conveyancing area and has been Licensed since 1992.

 

She is currently President of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (WA Division).  Has been since October 2008.

 

Jillian specialised in all facets of the settlement process for her clients, from residential, commercial, and strata titled properties.  Vacant land settlements to farming land transactions.

 

She has vast knowledge of the settlement process and is passionate about the continual education and working ethics of the industry.

 

She is highly regarded with her peers and is known to be a straight shooter in the industry.
